WHO AM I?

Image result for CLIPART SHOWING A SHEPHERD AND SHEEPExodus 1-3 opens with the introduction of Jacob's family, and with the fact that a Pharaoh is now reigning that does not know of Joseph.  The Hebrews have now been in Egypt for 430 years.  The have become quite numerous and prosperous UNTIL the death of the Pharaoh.  Because of their great number and the fear of being overpowered, the Egyptians make the Hebrews their slaves.  Scripture describes their enslavement as being treated ruthlessly, bitter and hard labor in the fields, in the brick and mortar, yet the Hebrews continued to multiply in spite of great physical abuse.  The next move of the Pharaoh is to command that the boy infants of the Hebrews be thrown into the Nile.

Out of such horror, Moses is born.  Through a series of the hand of Providence, Moses is reared by the sister of the Pharaoh.  He is destined to become the next Pharaoh, but God has a purpose and a plan.  Moses will be a mighty and wise leader, but not of Egypt.  Moses sees the plight of the Hebrews and upon seeing an Egyptian abuse a Hebrew, he murders the Egyptian and has to flee Egypt and the anger of the Pharaoh.

Moses, once an Egyptian prince has now become a lowly shepherd in the land of Median.  It has been 40 years that Moses has been off the grid from Egypt.  The Pharaoh dies and God has been hearing the groaning of the enslaved Hebrews and remembers His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Recall with me, any time the phrase,"God remembers" is used, from that point, we see the activity, the moving of God's hand.  Moses is given an assignment by God.  "And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go, I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."  Moses' reply, "Who am I?"  God does NOT answer his question, rather HE speaks, "I will be with you..." Moses knew who he was in Egypt, but now, he is quite unsure of himself and in that insecurity, God can now use Moses for HIS plan and purpose.  2 Corinthians 12:9, "But HE said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

In order for God to proceed with HIS plan and purpose, Moses has to come to the end of trusting in his own ability.  That same truth is ours for today, some 4,000 years later.  God has not changed.  HE will fulfill HIS purpose and plan with you and me, when we are willing to humble ourselves and recognize in our desperate weakness, HE is our strength! Moses will have to be reminded of this throughout the journey in Exodus...You and I will have to be reminded of that truth throughout our earthly lives.  SUFFICIENT GOD PROVIDES SUFFICIENT GRACE!  Forever learning.  In process.  #IHAVETHREESONS.
