FREED FROM SIN'S GRASP!

Image result for CLIP ART SHOWING FREEDOM  Paul gives us great encouragement, truth, and promise from Romans 6:5-11, "If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.  For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him.
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again;death no longer has mastery over him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life He lives, He lives to God.  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus."

Oh how we need to understand that the slave chains to sin have been broken.  Jesus' death and resurrection bought the victory over the penalty of sin, over the power of sin in us, and will in Heaven, provide the absence of sin!  Sin no longer has the power to hold us if we have made Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.  Ok, you ask, "Why do I sin?"  That question suggests that you and I are victims being held by sin.  We make the choice to sin because we yield to the of old default programs which we have well trained in our minds and our behavior.  Yet, while on this earth, we will never attain full maturity/perfection that we desire, yet if we do sin, we have been given an excellent response to our Father as the Holy Spirit of God convicts us of our sin, "If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9. I remind you and myself, we ARE NOT VICTIMS held by sin, that power was broken at Calvary.  If we had "druther" be enslaved, we can also take that option in spite of all that Calvary has provided for us.  Let me think, do I want to behave as a victim enslaved/chained to sin's power or would I rather confess my sin, receive His forgiveness and live as a victor?  Romans 8:37, "In in all these things we are more than conquerors through HIM who loved us;" Because HE conquered sin, death, and the grave, we too are conquerors. A truth and a choice!

Amazing grace, how can it be that He would save a wretch such as me? Forever learning!  In process!  #IHAVETHREESONS
