WHATEVER HE DELIGHTS

I have finished my readings in 1 Kings and have come to 2 Kings and the ministry of Elisha.  Elisha was also a prophet and seemed to have been "mentored" by Elijah. There were three schools of prophets (Jericho, possibly Gilgal, and Bethel) mentioned in the Old Testament. They were men who were devoted to God and had been under the tutelage of Samuel, then Elijah, and now Elisha.

Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha along with the prophets who wrote books of the Old Testament in the Bible were men  who were messengers who spoke the will of God to man.  They were to make the laws of God known to the people, to exhort the people in sincere worship of God, and to warn them about God's divine judgment.  If the prophet spoke a message that was untruthful or did not come to pass, Deuteronomy 18:20-22, he could face death, and the people were warned not to "be afraid of him".

Elisha's first ministry and miracle was purifying water in Jericho.  The men of the city came to Elisha  and reported that the water was bad and the land was unfruitful.  Elisha took a jar of water from the spring, threw salt in the jar of water, and spoke to the group of men, "Thus says the Lord, 'I have purified these waters; there shall not be from there death or unfruitfulness any longer." Verse 22 states, "So the waters have been purified to this day according to the word of Elisha which he spoke."

The same God from Genesis 1:1 until even now has not changed. He has not abdicated His Attributes to lesser beings or even the evil one!  He is still the All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Present, All-Seeing, All-Hearing, and Ever-Living God.  Psalm 113:3, "But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases."  Pleases in the Hebrew is our English word, delights. Our Father does whatever delights HIM.  I wonder what all is NOT done because we have not dared or NOT been willing to ask God to do in our present day world?  Have we seen so many powerful affects of evil, government, medicine, science, or technology that we are shy to believe and ask God to do, even the impossible?  Elisha's miracle was a very practical request, yet he trusted that God was ABLE to do to meet this practical need.  Over and over again, God graciously provides opportunities of personal "neediness"....what is my personal response to being in need?  My personal neediness is my opportunity to believe and trust that God is able to meet my every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:19.  I don't know about you, but I am willing for God to do anything and everything that delights Him and even miracles if He so delights. I have had enough of flesh energy!  Forever learning! In process, still! #IHAVETHREESONS
