IF


Image result for clip art showing IF  As you and I were grieved and shocked over the events of yesterday with the shooting, very quickly the Scripture came to my mind and heart, "IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND WILL FORGIVE." 2 Chronicles 7:14.  Ole Jehosphaphat said it so well also, "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." 2 Chronicles 20:12b.  OUR GREATEST WEAPON IN GOD'S ARMOR FOR US IS PRAYER; Ephesians 6:18. 

We have been given hellish circumstances by the evil one for years and they are accelerating in evil, in timing, and in the numbers killed.  My question is the same as the sign at the top of my blog: If not now, When?  When do Christ followers decide that NOW is the time for our prayers of repentance, confession, and for revival in our nation?  Do I wait until something else horrific occurs only in my family to pray?  Christ followers, too many among us have been playing church, and it is time that the Body of Christ raise up as the Army of the Lord God and take action.  Too often the power of prayer is demeaned by our other choices to use as tools of response to horror:  anger, hopelessness, apathy, fear, and the thoughts that it won't happen to us, etc. 

Surely we are desperate enough to allow correction to begin with each of us personally and then all of us be willing to rally in the Body of Christ in prayer.  We have choices and why not press the full impact of the Word of God and our prayers on the events of this world? Evil has many converts and God's will and purpose, we must pray down from Heaven NOW..."Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in Heaven." We are not powerless..."The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds (mindsets) that raise itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.  And we will be ready to punish every act of of disobedience, once your obedience is complete."  2 Corinthians 10:2-5.  I meet with a group each Wednesday night at 6:30 in room 223 and pray.  Anyone can join us. Why not form a group at your home?  It is imperative to pray and the time is NOW.  "Prayer is battle. Could it be that in our churches the right slogan over the door of most of our prayer rooms would be "We Wrestle Not?" Leonard Ravenhill.   Forever learning.  In process.  #IHAVETHREESONS.

John 9 is the story of the healing of the blind beggar.  Not only is it a marvelous story of the miraculous healing of the man as he is given his sight, but a sad story of the religious of whom Jesus said, "For judgment, I have come into this world, so that the blind will see, and those who see will become blind ." The religious have seen the miracle, even though it has taken place on a Sabbath, and they interview the man and his parents for their stories and understanding. REHEARSALS

  I wonder how much time do I give to rehearsing God's goodness and how He has intervened in my life to "save" me from myself?  How alike the Israelites I can be, complaining about what goes wrong, how it affects me, and what I lack.  As a Christ follower, I have the Indwelling Holy Spirit to give me remembrance NOT of my complaining and grumbling, but of a recall of God's faithfulness to me.  It is recorded in Psalms 78 and 106 that " They forgot what He had done, the wonder He had shown them", "They did not remember His power--the day He redeemed them from the oppressor...", "They did not remember Your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.", "But they soon forgot what He had done and did not wait for His counsel.", and "They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt...". Contrast with me, God's remembrance: Ps. 106:44-46, "But He took note of their distress...

A DONKEY SPEAKS!

    Numbers has been full of repetitive accounts of the Israelites and their disobedience.  They have now made several laps around Mt. Sinai, many of the original people have died off, or been killed for their arrogant and presumptuous actions against the LORD, Moses, and Aaron. The overriding truth of the accounts is the merciful grace of the LORD! Moses is in his last days of leadership.  The forty years are coming to an end and they are moving toward a second attempt to enter the Promise Land.  They have been victorious in taking land, and they are moving further into the interior of the land of Moab.  The king and the residents of Moab are "filled with dread because of the Israelites.  The king of Moab, Balak, sends messages to Balaam, who is a sorcerer and is able to to place curses or blessings on others.  King Balak wants to know how to defeat "this horde" that is licking up everything around them.  Of course, he is desirous th...
